Mountain biking holidays in Slovenia
Updated: Mar 26
Mountain biking in Slovenia is becoming very popular, not only riding mountain bikes at different bike parks, but especially in connection with discovering Slovenian hidden gems, nature, culture and authentic experiences.
With our beloved guests from Canada, who came to Slovenia in the late August we explored the most of Slovenian Julian Alps in 4 days. And yes, we used hight performance Giant Fanthom E+2 Pro electric mountain bikes. Why? Because you can see so much more and have fun at the same time.
We experienced so much in those 4 days and It is hard to put our mountain biking adventure in words and pictures, but let's try to explain you where we were riding our mountain bikes.
1st DAY (23.08.2019)
To welcome our guests Colleen and Ian from Vancouver, we took them mountain biking on our home terrain, the Škofja Loka hills, which offers great terrain for all biking levels.
We had fun on single and double biking tracks, enjoying the view and finishing a day at the local cheese factory Farm Pustotnik.
2nd DAY (24.08.2019)
From Škofja Loka hills we descended to the Julian Alps. Cruising through the surrounding of lake Bohinj we successfully avoided the rain, visited the Mostnica canyon, learned about Slovenian alpine traditions and finished the day by the lake Bohinj at House Erlah.
We were amazed about how much energy our guests had!
3rd DAY (25.08.2019)
Crossing the Pokljuka Plateau makes for quite a lot of cycling, but the scenery up there is worth every stroke of pedals. We visited the cutest little villages, learned about the making of cheese the old way and tried some fresh traditional diary products. Descending to the north side of Julian Alps we took a swim in a warm lake of Kreda and finished a long day with a highlight of a dinner at Milka Jasna.
4th DAY (26.08.2019)
From Jezero Jasna / Lake Jasna, we went closer to the mountains, cycling through a lovely alpine valley of Krnica. Since our guests are a skiing enthusiasts, they were highly impressed by our rich history in nordic sports, visiting Kranjska Gora Ski Resort and Nordijski center Planica. After an easy ride we have reached our final destination, Lago di Fusine, just across the Italian border.
Thank you Ian and Colleen for trusting us and for great company in the four days biking together!
